About Us

Our Mission and Services

The Lauderdale County Road and Bridge Department is dedicated to the maintenance, repair, and construction of roads and bridges throughout Lauderdale County. To ensure efficient and effective service, our department is organized into specialized divisions:

  • Barn Locations A, B, C, and D: Each of these offices manage road maintenance in specific regions, allowing us to respond promptly to regional concerns and address the needs of residents effectively.
  • Road Unit and Central Garage: This division focuses on larger-scale road maintenance and construction projects, including resurfacing, repairs, and new infrastructure development.

We are responsible for several key services aimed at maintaining the safety, accessibility, and functionality of Lauderdale County’s infrastructure. These include:

  • Street Signage Installation and Maintenance: We install and maintain all directional, informational, and safety signage across the county. This includes repairing damaged signs, installing new signage, and performing regular inspections.
  • Drainage Management: Proper drainage is vital for road upkeep and flood prevention. Our team installs, repairs, and clears culverts to maintain water flow beneath roads and manages ditches and stormwater systems to prevent erosion and water damage.
  • Grass Mowing and Vegetation Control: We manage roadside vegetation by mowing grass, trimming trees, and removing overgrowth. This improves visibility, reduces hazards, and enhances the aesthetics of roadways.
  • Paving, Grading, and Gravel Road Maintenance: We ensure both paved and gravel roads remain safe and accessible. For paved roads, we repair cracks, fill potholes, and resurface damaged areas. For gravel roads, we perform grading to improve surface conditions and drainage.
  • Bridge Maintenance: We conduct regular inspections and repairs on bridges to ensure their structural integrity and safety. Our work includes replacing worn components like decking and guardrails, and addressing issues like rust and erosion.
  • Storm Cleanup: After severe weather, our team acts quickly to restore normalcy by removing debris, clearing blocked roads, and repairing storm-damaged culverts and ditches.
  • Additional Services: We also provide a variety of services such as livestock burial to prevent public health risks, school bus turnaround repairs for safe transportation, and limited driveway maintenance to ensure access where county roads connect to driveways.

Our department is committed to providing the highest standards of service, ensuring the safety and functionality of Lauderdale County’s roads and bridges for all residents. We work diligently to address both routine needs and emergencies, with on-call Foreman and Crews available 24/7.
